Everything You Need to Know About Cleaning an Atomizer
As a newbie to vaping, one of the things you’ll need to learn is how to clean an atomizer. A dirty atomizer can affect the taste of your e-juice, it can block your airflow, and reduce the lifespan of your atomizer. An atomizer naturally gets dirty over time due to a buildup of residue from your e-juice. However, vaping MAX VG e-liquids can leave gunk on your coils. There are different ways to tell when your atomizer is dirty.
There are different ways to tell when your atomizer is dirty:
a. Your coil becomes blackened.
b. You get a weird taste when vaping.
c. Some e-liquids with a bold flavor like tobacco and coffee vapes tend to leave flavor residue in your atomizer. Therefore, it is best to clean your atomizer after vaping an e-juice with a strong flavor.
d. You notice blotches or discoloration on your tank.
Sometimes it is necessary to clean your atomizer even if it is new because it contains machine oil residue, which can affect the flavor of your e-juice. Thankfully, cleaning an atomizer is a very easy process, and you don’t have to be an expert vaper to do it. The procedure for cleaning atomizers is generally the same. However, there are some considerations to keep in mind depending on which type of atomizer you are using.
If you want to clean a tank, all you have to do is take the different parts apart. Remove the coil, the tank tube, and the mouthpiece. Rinse the different parts in warm water, dry them out with a paper towel or napkin, and then leave them to dry before assembling your tank together again. Instead of warm water, you could also use vodka, vinegar, ethanol, or a mixture of water and baking soda. It is not advisable to use soap and water to clean your tank. Even if you do, use only a small amount of soap. If you rinse your coil too, allow it to dry properly before you use it.
The procedure for cleaning rebuildable devices is the same as the method highlighted above. However, you must remember to remove your wick before cleaning the atomizer.
Never use the method above to clean a mod. If you want to clean your mod, simply wipe it down with a semi damp paper towel or napkin. Always read the manufacturer’s instructions for caring for your vaping devices. This guarantees that you will be able to maintain them properly and avoid any potential issues. Also, it is advisable to have a vape tool kit where you keep your vaping accessories when they’re not in use – especially if you have little kids of pets in your home – to avoid damages.
For devices that come with replaceable coils, I recommend changing your coil completely rather than attempting to clean it. However, if you are using a replaceable coil, you can clean it after you take out the wicking material. Nonetheless, after some time, switch the coil for a new one because no amount of cleaning will be able to restore its functionality.
